17th April 2021 commencing at 7.30 am
We will be having our annual rifle range clean up in conjunction with the Cairns Rifle Club which was postponed from earlier in the year.
It will be somewhat different to previous years as the Dept of Defence has requested that the old steel, glass, broken chairs, roofing iron etc be cleaned up and removed from site which will be the main focus of attention. Much of this is in the creeks and bush
The Army is providing two skip bins and the Cairns Rifle Club has organised two skip bins for steel only. A bobcat has also been hired to assist with the clean up with the cost being shared between the two clubs.
You will need to have sturdy enclosed footwear and leather gloves as a minimum, I would suggest long clothing and plenty of insect repellent as the march flies are very fierce after the rain.
Bring plenty of water to drink. The other jobs that will need to be completed by those that may find the steel and rubbish removal too strenuous will be:
refacing the target frames with new corflute ( bring a screw gun and bits if you think this looks like your job)
cleaning up the container and a general tidy up ( leaf blower would be useful)
some mowing /whipper snipping of the range ( bring your own).
